With geothermal technology we are able to utilize the earths natural ambient temperature and convert existing non-geothermal HVAC systems by installing a geothermal unit that ties into existing ventilation duct work. This is done in an effort to promote green energy efficiency uses, which also reduces overall energy bills.
The existing central air system's heat pump and indoor units are removed, and then replaced with a geothermal heat pump.
The process involves extracting the ambient temperature from the earths ground through the use of strategically placed underground tubing, then (depending on the geothermal application) water or glycol is pumped through the tubing with a geothermal heat pump. This enables the heat transfer to take place as the liquid is pumped through the unit. The benefit is realized due to the reduction in energy that is needed to increase the temperature in order to satisfy the call for comfort control through the thermostat when an adjustment of temperature is made.
